Boat Detailing on Lake Austin

We detail boats on Lake Austin, right at your dock or marina. The crew drives to you and works on the boat where it sits, so there's no trailering and no taking it anywhere. We have been detailing boats in Central Texas since 2008.

Lake Austin boats

Lake Austin is a long, narrow lake, and one of the busiest stretches of water in Austin. Wake boats, ski boats and pontoons share it, and the shoreline is lined with docks, from the Tarrytown neighborhood to the marinas near the dam and lakeside spots like Hula Hut and Ski Shores. Boats here get used a lot, and plenty of people see them.

A steady lake means a steady waterline

Lake Austin is a constant-level lake. The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) aims to keep it within about a foot, between 491.8 and 492.8 feet above sea level. Your boat sits at the same waterline all season, and so does whatever builds up along it. That makes regular care easy to plan: a scheduled wash, plus a sealant or ceramic coating to protect the finish in between.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your boat and where it is kept.
  2. Based on the description and year of your boat, we recommend the best package to get it back to its prime condition.
  3. We do the work at your dock or marina.

Start with a detail, then keep it up

The first visit is a full detail or a ceramic coating. That gets the boat clean and protected. After that, our recurring maintenance plan keeps it that way all season on Lake Austin. Maintenance plans are for boats kept in the water, at a slip or on a lift. You can't sign up for maintenance by itself, because it starts with the detail. Plans run every two weeks, monthly, every other month or quarterly, with a six-month minimum.

What we do on Lake Austin

Full boat detail. A hand wash, water spot removal and a synthetic sealant on the hull. Inside, we clean the interior surfaces, scrub the non-skid, vacuum the wells, and clean, condition and UV-protect the vinyl seats. Chrome and stainless get cleaned too. We clean hulls and bottoms when the boat is on a trailer or a lift, or anywhere we can reach it.

Oxidation removal and polishing. For chalky or faded gel coat, we use a medium or heavy cut compound depending on how far the oxidation has gone, then polish. Mold and mildew treatment goes on when the boat needs it.

Ceramic coating. We hand wash, remove water spots, do a multi-stage polish, wash with isopropyl alcohol, steam the surface and apply two coats of marine ceramic. It repels water and contaminants and makes the boat easier to clean. Expect about 18 months to 2 years, depending on how the boat is used. It is safe on gel coat, fiberglass and other composites.

Gel coat restoration. For faded, chalky or scuffed gel coat, we clean, sand, compound and polish. This one is done in our shop.

Recurring maintenance. Every two weeks, monthly, every other month or quarterly, with a six-month minimum. Plans bill automatically to a card on file and continue after the six month minimum until you cancel. It starts with a full detail or ceramic coating, and visits are scheduled by service week along our lake routes. Each visit covers a hand wash, water spot removal, sealant, and interior cleaning including compartments, cup holders, non-skid, windows and dash. We also clean the tower, wash the cover and bimini, and apply mold retardant and an eco-friendly spider repellent to the cover and bimini.

Pontoons and wake boats. Same crew, same services. We have detailed Malibu, Nautique, Tige, Supra, Moomba and Bennington boats, among others.

It is the same crew and the same services on every lake we work. There is no travel fee for Lake Austin.

"BB did an excellent job in detailing our boat. After sitting at the boat dock all winter and in terrible shape it now looks like a new boat!" Robert C.

Lake Austin boat detailing questions

Is the water level on Lake Austin steady?

Yes. LCRA runs Lake Austin as a constant-level lake and aims to keep it within about a foot. Lake Travis, just upstream, is the one that rises and falls.

Do you come to my dock?

Yes. We work at your dock or marina on Lake Austin.

Is there a travel fee?

No. There is no travel fee for Lake Austin.

How do I get a price?

Tell us about your boat and where it is kept. Based on the description and year of the boat, we recommend the best package and send you a quote. If it needs a higher package or more work once we see it, we'll contact you.

Do you work below the waterline?

Yes. We clean hulls and bottoms when the boat is on a trailer or a lift, or anywhere we can reach it. Tell us where your boat is kept when you ask for a quote and we'll tell you what we can reach.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

About 18 months to 2 years, depending on how the boat is used and cared for. Rinsing with fresh water and using marine-grade cleaners helps it last.

Do you work on pontoons and wake boats?

Yes. We work on pontoons, wake boats, ski boats, cruisers and jet skis.

Can I just sign up for maintenance?

Not on its own. Maintenance plans are for boats kept in the water, at a slip or on a lift. Maintenance starts after a full detail or a ceramic coating, so the first visit gets the boat to the right starting point. Then we put you on a plan: every two weeks, monthly, every other month or quarterly, with a six-month minimum.

What day and time will you come?

Recurring service runs on set lake routes, so we schedule by service week, not by an exact appointment time. We confirm your service week when you join, and weather or lake access can move a visit.
